National elections can sometimes lead to some leave time, but I haven’t heard much about primaries.

See, it’s easy for me. I can just vote on my merry way to work. But it would be harder if I had an earlier shift, or had 4 kids to feed and get out the door.

Kima Taylor, of the Open Society Institute-Baltimore, writes in her blog post that time off should be a part of wider efforts to boost turnout in local elections.

“It is time for employers to encourage employees that are eligible to become part of the nation’s future,” Taylor writes.

One Response to “Do you get the day off to vote in Tuesday’s primary?”

I agree. Everything possible should be done to encourage people to participate in this important national process.
